corporate social responsibility
Globalization has brought prosperity, economic growth, new markets and employment opportunities for many. Multinational companies have spread their wings, and operate from or invest in countries where labor, land and natural resources are widely available. Around the world, private companies have acknowledged the challenges and opportunities of globalisation by embracing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
CSR is about making commitments, building social capital, creating opportunities and fostering creativity. Above all, it is about creating a sustainable future. More and more companies recognize the business case for sustainability. As the current economic situation has shown, environmental and social issues increasingly impact on the financial performance of businesses. CSR not only helps develop human capital and boost employee motivation and productivity, it also makes a business more attractive for investors. Understanding the society and environment in which the company operates and building relationships with external stakeholders - civil society organizations and local governments – create a legal and social license to operate.
CSR is based on the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit. Aidenvironment works from the premise that these domains are equally important and interlinked, and we support our clients with the integration and mainstreaming of environmental and social aspects into corporate strategies, procedures and practices. We understand the perspectives of the different stakeholders and are used to moderating processes involving diverse parties. As part of our consulting services, we develop practical tools, conduct impact assessments of potential or actual corporate investments, review CSR strategies and facilitate stakeholder engagement.
Recent examples of our involvement in CSR projects:
- CSR screening of grant applications for public infrastructure projects in developing countries, funded by the Dutch government
- development of CSR strategy and implementation tools for a Dutch energy provider
- development of CSR policies, stakeholder engagement strategy and tools for a Dutch financial institution
- due diligence assessment of a proposed investment for the Dutch Development Bank
- due diligence assessment of a partner financial institution for an investment fund
- facilitation of stakeholder dialogue between an oil and gas company and an international NGO
