In May Alfan Subekti joined Aidenvironment as Director of Aidenvironment Asia, the firm's Southeast Asia branch. His appointment comes in response to the increasing call from NGOs and multilateral clients for locally-based expertise in Indonesia and Asia.

Besides enhancing the management of Aidenvironment’s expanding Asia operations, Alfan will undertake consultancy activities. Raised in rural Kalimantan and
academically trained in both Indonesia and The Netherlands, Alfan brings to the firm broad international consultancy and management experience in commercial forestry in tandem with a knowledge and understanding of nature conservation and climate change issues. For the past 20 years, Alfan has been active in social forestry, conflict resolution, environmental management, institutional strengthening, facilitation, field work, and alternative energy (solar panel and wind turbine). Recently, Alfan worked as REDD Field Manager for The Nature Conservancy. Prior to that, he worked for such organizations as GTZ, Tropenbos International, DLH Nordisk Group (Denmark) and Jaakko Poyre (Finland).

Alfan is intent on intensifying partnership, collaboration and involvement with partners and stakeholders at regional, national and district levels.
