Final Evaluation of the Fairtrade International Strategic Funding Program

Aidenvironment is conducting a final evaluation of phase two of the Strategic Fairtrade Funding Programme (SFFP). SFFP is a six-year program divided into two program periods, from 2008 to 2009 and from 2010 to 2013. The final evaluation focuses on the latter period. The main objective of SFFP is to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged small producers by strengthening market linkages. The focus on low income countries, conflict-affected regions, gender equality and climate change reflects Fairtrade’s strategic intent to deepen its development impact.

The aim of the evaluation is to assess Fairtrade International’s effectiveness, efficiency and relevance. In addition to accountability, the evaluation has a strong focus on institutional learning and developing recommendations on the way forward. It will be based on desk research, interviews and field visits in Africa and Latin America.

The evaluation is a good example of how Aidenvironment can add value by combining our knowledge of certification, smallholders and market linkages with our extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation.
