Advice to Peepoople on business plan and consortium development
MWF is assisting Peepoople, a Swedish-based social venture, with writing a business plan for its Peepoo bag as a sanitation alternative, building a consortium of launching customers and relevant organizations, and enhancing the business model based on the outcome of a pre-pilot.
Following several field tests that revealed wide acceptance of the Peepoo bag, it was launched in Kibera, Nairobi in a commercial pilot called the Initial Launch Project. This pilot provided 30,000 people with a decent toilet facility. Together with Simavi, MWF raised the funds needed to finance the Initial Launch Project. MWF advised Simavi on the monitoring and evaluation of business and financial results of the project, peer reviewed the business plan and advised on the financing of the follow-up phase in which the project will be scaled up to provide a daily sanitation solution to 100,000 people.
