Formulation of a water sector bilateral program between Ghana and the Netherlands
Aidenvironment was invited to develop the monitoring and evaluation system for the Ghana–Netherlands Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Program (GNWP) as a whole and propose an approach to integrate and monitor sustainability issues relevant to the GNWP through the use of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) or Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
Ghana still faces an enormous challenge to achieve the Millennium Development Goals for drinking water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), one of the key themes for development co-operation between the Netherlands and Ghana. The Dutch Embassy in Ghana developed the GNWP for the period 2013–2017. The project aims to provide WASH services at three locations in the Ghana coastal area, including part of Accra.
