Water Resource Management for WASH: Strengthening Communities for Climate Resilience

Northern Uganda experiences floods and droughts, impacting water supply, hygiene and health, and livelihoods. These floods and droughts seem to become more extreme, possibly linked to climate change. In the framework of the WASH SDG programme, Aidenvironment together with AMREF Flying Doctors and Simavi (all members of the WASH Alliance International), has piloted a solution to this problem in 2018.

The Indonesian Kayan Patria Pratama (KPP) group, active in the provinces of East and North Kalimantan, has cleared 13,500 hectares of forests since 2016. Spatial analysis by Aidenvironment puts KPP among the largest deforesting company groups in Indonesia.

Bamboo to Reduce the Cost of Rainwater Harvesting

Through the Green Future Farming Project, Aidenvironment is piloting the use of bamboo as the main structural material for rainwater harvesting tanks in coffee-growing communities in Uganda. The lower costs will enable farmers to collect more rainwater and prevent soil erosion.

Papua lost 7,000 ha of forests due to pulp and paper companies

Four companies deforested 7,000 hectares for industrial trees in Papua between 2016 to May 2021, analysis by Aidenvironment reveals. The largest deforester was the South Korean Moorim Group that cleared 3,800 hectares of forests during the said period and continued its clearing through 2021.
