The Rain4Sale project was aimed at increasing water availability and testing the business case of establishing a rain water harvesting tanks and selling water stored to recover the installation costs. The project mainly targets entrepreneurs with proven experience in managing a small business and is being implemented in partnership with Uganda Rainwater Association (URWA) in collaboration with Local Government.

The project is being implemented in areas of; Malongo and Ndagwe sub counties in Lwengo district. Currently four entrepreneurs have benefited from a 50 cubic litre ferrocement tank.

With the availability of water, the entrepreneurs have been able to improve their agricultural practices, and sell the produce both for their personal income and Loans reimbursement.

Following the same approach, RAIN intends to scale up the project to benefit more people thus, improving access to clean water and creating business opportunities increased income generation. The concept of the project is based on establishing a business case on rainwater harvesting and selling the stored water to recover the costs of installation. RAIN is monitoring the project and exploring opportunities for scaling up and reaching more entrepreneurs in partnership with finance institutions and private sector.
