Joana has experience in social environment development strategies, with an emphasis on rural development, land tenure systems, community forestry, and participatory planning. She has worked for governmental, international, civil society, and non-governmental organizations. This work experience has focused mainly on Brazil. Joana holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science (University of Brasilia, 2009) and a PhD in Social Science (Wageningen University, Netherlands, 2018). Her main interests concern the promotion of strategies for the sustainable use of natural resources that result in social, economic, and environmentally equitable benefits for direct and indirect stakeholders. Joana has joined our Europe Office in Amsterdam as senior researcher.
